Ms.Rowan-Guidance Department Chair

Ms. Rowan is the counselor for the Junior Class and Freshman Class with last names L-Z

An educator since 1984 at BGHS, Ms. Rowan has been a counselor since 1995 . She recieved her Bachelors degree from Murray State University and her Masters and Rank I from WKU.

Ms. Rowan says, " I chose the career of teaching because it was something I wanted to do since I was in elementary school, and counseling because I wanted to have a positive influence on students' lives." She also says that her favorite role is working with the students and building relationships.





Mrs. Swiney


Mrs. Swiney is the counselor for the Senior class of 2010.

Ms. Karen Swiney graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1987 and earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees fromWestern Kentucky University.  Before becoming a duidance counselor, she taught special education for twelve years at Warren East Middle School and Warren County Juvenile Detention Center.

"I love BGHS because we have a diversity you can't find at many schools coupled with a VERY positive atmosphere that is hard to find."



Ms. Krisher

Ms. Krisher is the counselor for the Sophomore Class and Freshman Class with last names A-K.

Ms. Leah H. Krisher received her undergraduate degree from Western Kentucky University in Family and Consumer Science Education and was a teacher in this field for seven years in Hardin County.  She received her Masters degree in Secondary Guidance Counseling and Rank I certification in Elementary Guidance Counseling at Western Kentucky University.  A guidance counselor for six years in Hardin County, she joined the guidance office at BGHS in 2006. Ms. Krisher says,  “I am blessed to have the opportunity to be a Guidance Counselor at Bowling Green High School.”  

Ms. Lawson

Ms. Lawson is the counselor for Special Programs. 

Ms. Lawson is in her ninth year as a guidance counselor. She has a Rank I in counseling(grades K-12), form WKU. She previously worked for one year as a counselor at Crittenden County Middle and Elementary Schools. She has a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (Grades K-8), and Special Education (Grades 1-12) and I have a Master's Degree (Rank I and II) in Reading Specialist (Grades K-8), Counseling (Grades K-12), and Individual Intellectual Assessment (Grades K-12).

Ms. Lawson says, " I love working with BGHS students! Because I am Special Populations guidance counselor, I get the opportunity to work with students from Bowling Green as well as all over the world. I learn something new all the time! The students are great and they make my job so enjoyable! Also, I love being involved with teenagers! Teenagers have their whole life ahead of them and I love helping them decide upon their career goals whether it be continuing their education, the military, or going into the workforce.
